Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving...we did! Having our fellow familyless friends crammed into our little apartment turned out great and the food couldn't have been better. Whew! I pulled off my first hosted Thanksgiving dinner. I'm sure everyone agrees with me when I say that I am sincerely thankful for family, friends, a home, and food to eat!

Rest in Peace Gramma

Dear Dad,
We're sending you someone special to keep you company until we all see you again. You know her well since you played constant jokes on her. The year you forgot it was April's Fools she sat anxiously waiting all day thinking she'd missed your trick. Most people dread their mother-in-law but you loved her and now she gets to be with you again.
We love you

Here's a video of you with her. With Thanksgiving here I'm grateful for a dad like you. Extreme dinner.

BCS here we come! (again)

Utah beat that team down south! 48-24!!! We're heading to the BCS bowl the second time in four years!!! 12-0 Conference Champions outright!

who was our M.V.P? That would have to be Max Hall (byu's quarterback) who threw an indecent number of interceptions. The team had 6 turnovers in a game and it should have been 8. We had none.
Go UTES!!!! next up: Fiesta Bowl

www.howobamagotelected.com

watch this please:

now that was just 12 random people. not very scientific, I agree. but the Zogby poll based on 512 participants was even more convincing because in his poll it was multiple choice meaning that monkeys could have taken that poll and gotten at least 25% of the questions right, but obama voters did even worse.

actual poll results here
or a few highlights here.

Election's over. But this truly shows that the media did not do their job this election.

Go Utes!

Since we are moving to the east coast soon, Taylor couldn't pass up a Utah game that was so close to us...since it will probably be a while before he can go to another. They killed San Diego State 63 to 14, great game! (whoa, whoa! Taylor here: I should add that the Utes never even had to punt the whole game! We scored every time we touched the football with the one exception where we threw a INT. Also if you notice the stadium... we had more fans come from two states away to see the game than SDSU had for their own team! By 4th quarter there were like 12 SDSU fans left, everybody had gone home!)Since we were going to San Diego for the game, we figured we may as well make a weekend trip out of it and enjoy the city.
We went to the temple and it was incredible and beautiful.
And no, they didn't let Taylor into the Temple in his Utah shirt. In fact, they didn't let him in at all because his recommend apparently expired in May, which is funny because we have been several times since then...even more funny is afterwards when Taylor came back to pick me up from the temple we checked mine, and it also had expired in May. So much for expiration dates. We better get on that.
We also walked around Balboa park and got some great pics.
Yay for weekend warrior trips!

it may be snowing in utah...

... but it's BEAUTIFUL in Santa Barbara!
check it out! it's been so nice we are spending more time than ever outside! We even got Jodi a bike! 15 bucks and she is the proud new owner of a bike that shifts gears automatically! cool eh? I was so intrigued I had to fiddle with it until I figured out how they designed a bike to know when to switch gears. Here's a picture and brief explication.

She went on her maiden voyage with her new bike last week. We went down through I.V. which is always totally insane of course but it was actually really nice. Soft guitar music floating from a porch, a barbeque, an amazing sunset, cliff lined beach, people playing volleyball etc. And then right as Jodi was thinking "hey, I think I'll miss I.V. a little bit, it's not so bad here..." We heard somebody yell from their porch "Hey slutski on the mountain bike! Come over here and show us a good time!" Ah yes, classy to the end I.V.

Meanwhile, the weather is even nice for surfing. Here's my newly fixed board: note the spot where Andrew Magnusson smashed some serious face. well, maybe that was actually on his board, but this board was definitely part of the action. These pictures are mainly an effort to lure my brother, Heavy-D, out to visit. Just think D, that could be your tooth that gets cracked in half.

And lastly, with the nice weather year round I have become a full blown bicycle commuter since I bought my fixie. I filled up my motorcycle tank for the first time in four months and it only cost 5 bucks. However, I learned a sad lesson about the dorky pant leg roll-up the other day. Sprockets are hungry and pants are on the menu. It ripped that baby right off before I knew what happened.

victory

Forget the yes we cans,
we are at least feeling triumphant for Yes on 8!
For those of you wondering what it must have been like fighting for Proposition 8,
this pictures says it all.
Our opponents are already fighting the people's decision for a second time, saying that Prop 8 was done illegally, but I have confidence it will hold.
Whether you feel that you won or lost during this election season, I think we can all agree that it is such a relief to have it over with. It is so refreshing to see my city without all of those yard signs screaming out at me on every corner.

I have never felt more hated in my entire life, but through it all my heart aches for my opponent. Although I'm certain they would never understand my feelings, and would likely have something nasty to say in response, that doesn't change anything. These people are suffering a loss of their own and I am completely aware of that. I don't wish for battles and defeats. I am grateful for the eternal perspective on war and fighting for what you believe in that I hold so dear to me. I look to the examples of great prophets in the Book of Mormon who hated to fight, who sincerely loved their enemies- their brethren whom they prayed for, but knew it was necessary in order to protect their religion, peace, families, and freedoms. Not to mention just keeping the government in line. Let us not forget our opponents in this battle; no matter how much they hate us, I will continue to pray for and love them.

looks like christmas came early

I may vomit, wake me in 4 years. I'd better enjoy Glenn Beck now before the Fairness Doctrine puts him off the air.

And did Minnesota seriously just vote Al Franken in as a Senator?

But at least the YES on 8 videos on youtube are hilarious: here's proof

maybe I'll wake up and realize it was all a very bad dream.

we survived...

another Halloween near Isla Vista.
In one square mile...
40,000 people
300 Cops on foot patrol
242 Arrests
500 citations
50 hospitalizations
2 cliff fallings...seriously?

One thing I won't miss about Santa Barbara.

Worst Halloween Ever

I made a costume which only 5 people saw because Jodi had a sore throat and didn't wanna party. here it is, Pancho villa never looked so good.

As it turns out, everybody looks better with a big pancho villa mustache.

And did I mention I had some wicked awesome bed head the other day?
