I just have something to say...

We blog about the political happenings quite a bit.
Some of you may hate it. I enjoy it, a lot actually. I used to hate when the subject would come up (probably because I just didn't understand much), but I have come a long way.
I imagine quite a few of you who read this feel the same way as I do, and I know for certain that some of you do not.
I know some of you may think I am just going with the flow of the
mainstream Mormon Republicans and don't really
"know that much"

or that I stand where I do "just because Taylor does"...
but I have a mind of my own thank you. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I am proud of myself for getting involved this last year. For a time I even considered leaning towards the Democratic side this round, since I follow my own agenda- not someone else's,
but that was short lived. I educated myself, I've read the news frequently
and have every single day for the last month or so, I listen to the radio.
I watched the DNC and the RNC...
okay not the WHOLE thing, but the most important parts.
I listen to both sides.

I know where I, yes I stand, and even my dear husband has been impressed with my knowledge at times. I must give him credit of course for educating me on some of the dynamics of politics. I'm certainly no expert. I often try to strengthen my political convictions with a spiritual perspective as well, that's what life is all about right? I don't want to talk about why I stand where I do, because I'm sure you've all figured that out by now and I could go on forever, I'm just proud to say
that I KNOW why I stand where I do.
So now when someone wants to assume I don't really have a clue,
you've been warned...I have a lot to talk about.
I'm my own person, woman, American....that's all I have to say.
And I still like you even if we disagree.

  1. Way to go Jodi! I am glad you are taking a stand! I am also Republican along with Jack. Why? Well he is the head of the family and we agree on almost everything! Does that make me a doormat? No way, We listen to politics together and we stick together with politics I feel it unifies us even more. Keep it up. We miss you guys!

  2. Good for you!!! I have been getting into it now and am actually enjoying it. I love the drama :)

  3. Good for you Jod, I am proud of you. I don't agree with you and may sometimes think you and my semi libertarian brother are completely deluded, but I am still proud of you and love that you are getting involved. So there.

  4. That's cool that you're getting involved. Growing up in my house you kind of had to be. But we were all encouraged to listen to it all and make a choice. I personally don't like talking about politics although it may not seem like it at times. I think it kinda brings out the worst in people including myself. Tron prefers it if I never talk about it. (I'm a much more calm person when I don't) I obviously don't agree with the majority of your views, but it's awesome that you have established your own. I never actually thought you were just going along with Taylor. I didn't even know what your opinions were. But way to go

  5. Woo hoo! You go girl! I find it incredibly admirable that you are making a point to become amore active participant in our political system. I am trying to d the same thing. More people ought to follow suite and step up to the plate!

  6. Hey Jodi! That was marvelously well-written. If only more American's took the time to not be a sheep.

Politics is very important, and the only reason I "hate it" is how easily it can tear apart a perfectly good friendship.

I don't know if you've gotten to listen to him, but I urge you to read about what Ron Paul stands for. He's the only politician I've ever seen who never says different things to different people.
