Sunday Song #20

The time has finally come! Jodi and I are officially off for the summer to Shanghai! Emails should work while we are gone, but I'm not sure if blogs & facebook will. So consider this as possibly the last Sunday Song until late August. I may buy a guitar out there, but no promises yet.

This song was written a while ago when my good pal Andy was reading a poem he wrote on his mission about a thick, brown river. It has lyrics, but we never got a good recording of them with Andy singing.

Sunday Song #19

I knew that I would be in Purdue for these 2 weeks so I recorded this bluesy little number before I left.

Brace yourselves for ROCK! This recording is from the good old days. It is epic face melting rock at its best.

Sunday Song #16

Flamenco! well, technically, not really. There is a specific rhythm that defines flamenco, but this is a pretty neat song anyway.
This is the lyric-less version of the song because I've got not love for my singing voice and the lyrics are politico anyway.

Sunday Song #15

busy week. only had a little time to record stuff. Check out this little blend of 4 savory herbs and spices. For the "percussion" I just tapped on the body of the guitar with my fingers.

Sunday Song #14

One of the best Sunday Song's yet! I co-wrote this song with my good buddy Kye Browning. I did the rhythm guitar track and he added all the glorious rest. I love working with other people and seeing their creativity too. We enjoyed it so much that we may do another one soon.

Now, I know there is a certain prejudice against people with mullets- but today's Sunday Song is going to prove you wrong. Just imagine that mullet playing these sultry jazz tunes.

PS Keep an eye out, on April 11 I'll post the fantastic result from me and Kye's musical Co-write

Sunday Song #11

So we had the ward talent show this week and my song flopped! I had never tried to sing and play before. Turns out it's really hard and threw me off pretty bad. So I'll not be posting that video, but rather I'll post the song as I intended it to sound.

This is my favorite of all my songs.

Sunday Song #10

I like this song because it makes me imagine a superhero on the rainy night when he first discovers his new power. What does it make you think of?

Sunday Song #9

I fell asleep on a couch and had an amazing dream which I hurried and turned into this song.

Sunday Song #8

the latest and greatest. We have a ward talent show coming up Friday the 19th- I'm putting together some face-melting rock n roll for it. Should be really fun.

Sunday Song #7

After last week's gooey valentine's song it was high time for some bluegrass.

Sunday Song #6

Apologies ahead of time for the shear wimpiness of this Sunday's Song.

Jodi unloaded a husband's worst fear on me this Valentine's Day by saying the following
"You don't have to get me flowers or anything this year for Valentine's Day..... .... just.... do something creative to show me how much you love me."

Oh great! That's exactly why husbands buy flowers and things on Valentine's Day- to avoid doing something creative. blech. So this song is the result.

But don't worry- next week the deepest blues are back.

Sunday Song #5

After listening to so much "The Devil Makes Three" it was bound to happen that their style would rub off on me. So go ahead, give this a listen. I'm no fan of how my voice sounds singing, but it's fun to sing along.

Sunday Song #3

This song was written on a balcony overlooking Santa Barbara's beautiful student housing. It makes me remember the fabulous weather and lifestyle of that place every time I play it.

Sunday Song #2

It's Sunday again, and that means it's time for another awesome song! Now just because last week's song was wimpy doesn't mean they all are! Oh no, check out this one from I recorded back with the band

Taylor's Music #1 "Soledad"

My New Year's resolution is to start start posting the songs as I write and record them. Because otherwise I just forget them.
Here's the most recent one. It is unique in that it isn't based on a major, minor or pentatonic scale but rather a harmonic minor scale.
